Board of directors

  • Susan McKenzie, Founder
    • I heard about similar programs in other communities and sought to find one in Kelowna. When I discovered nothing for the Kelowna students, I started Treasures with the support of my church, Kelowna Christian Center. I understand what it may feel like for students of low-income families, as I was one. It has been a wonderful experience to see the joy on the Grads faces and the out poring of this community. My hope is that Treasures will continue helping many graduates over the years to come.
  • Luana Brooks
    • When Sue first shared her vision of Treasures, I instantly knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. Seeing the young people able to attend their graduation festivities is amazing. In some cases this is the first time the grads have had their hair done and worn formal outfits. It's such an honor to see not only the grads blessed, but their families as well. The excitement from the business community who come forward and want to be a part of this wonderful vision is wonderful.
  • Patty Lou Bryant
    • Everyone needs to feel special and honored in their life. Graduation is one of those times. It symbolizes the end of one part of life and new beginnings. There is such joy in seeing the grads dressed-up, beam with pride, laugh with excitement and that makes all the organizing, collecting, arranging, altering and helping more than worthwhile. It's a privilege to be apart of their big day.
  • Elaine McCrea
    • I saw the joy that this program brought to the students and parents of the students that participated. These young people should not be denied the thrill of joining in the activities that graduation brings. Through Treasures it makes it possible for all students to stand up and be noticed at their celebration of Graduation.
  • Myrna Mills
    • I became a part of the Treasures program because I know what it is like to be single Mother, sending not one but two daughters to their Graduation events. I only wish there had been this type of program back then.
